"Bowel tests follow-up appointment"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as a staff member),

This story has been posted by Healthwatch Tameside on behalf of a member of the public who asked not to have their name published. They said…

This young man had bowel tests done in April 2013. He should have had a follow-up appointment 4 months later. No appointment was sent. He hasn't been able to find out any information. His GP knows nothing. He is now going to a private hospital to try to get some answers and will not be using Tameside Hospital again.

Thank you for your comments this is clearly not the standard of care we expect any of our patients to receive. Without the specific details this is difficult to answer. If you could contact Lindsay Stewart Deputy Director of Nursing on 0161 922 5352, so that the issues you have raised can be looked into and dealt with in a more personalised way.

Kind regards

John Goodenough

' Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called ' Patient Stories'. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them - what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what's involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at john.goodenough@tgh.nhs.uk
