I was recently sent to the clinical decision unit following a visit to my GP with unexplained abdominal pain. I was very apprehensive as try to avoid visits to hospital following a very bad experience. I would like to highly commend the young man who greeted me on my arrival and subsequently treated me & sent me home feeling fully satisfied with the care he provided. He was in a very busy room on his own and dealt with each person in that room with care and compassion. He made sure we were all kept in the picture of what was happening offering reassurance even though he was clearly very busy and phone constantly ringing. He took time to chat to myself and others in the room and his friendly but professional manner kept me at ease for what I thought was going to be a very distressing time. If other nurses took a leaf out of this lovely young mans book I am sure that the hospital would be a much nicer place to visit for people like me
"Clinical decision unit - a shining example"
