About: Darent Valley Hospital

Waited in A & E only to listen to the nurses bickering that there was no available doctors? I really would suggest that you don't use this A&E, also they staff give misleading information as to why the waiting time is so long! The reason given to patients was that it was an extremely busy time....the real reason was a doctor left for a break and the A&E was left with only nurses given excuses.

Thank you for flagging this issue to me. As a senior nurse within the department, I am saddened to hear that you overheard this unprofessional conversation and would like to reassure that the department is never left without any medical cover. I would also like to reassure you that announcements made to the general public regarding waits are determined by the amount of people in attendance in the department and the medical cover at that time which in turn can be affected by staff meal breaks.
