"Long waits to be seen on Erica Ward - and all nil by mouth "

About: King George Hospital

(as the patient),

I was taken to kgh a&e dept in the early hours of monday morning with severe pain in my left side. The doctor in a&e was very nice - he explained everything he was doing or was about to do. Later I was admitted to the Medical Admissions Unit (MAU) for further investigations. I had several xrays and ivu xrays,i was given morphine to help with the pain.

Later that night i was transferred again to Erica ward, where i underwent more tests(nobody informed my husband of the move),while in Erica ward the staff said nil by mouth until the neurology doctor had seen me. i was told he would visit that night!

At 12.30 am i was taken for another scan and said doctor would speak to me in the morning. Next morning i was taken for an ultrasound scan on my abdomen and was told doctor would see me that afternoon. By 17.45 no doctor arrived,i was then told doctor wouldnt be coming till the morning! i am really very upset by the way i was just left with no food or water for 48hours in total,so in the end i discharged myself still none the wiser!
