We arrived after a phone call from the hospital to say we had to attend A & E as a matter of some urgency after the results of blood tests. I organised travel and we got there to find a fairly full waiting room. I explained the nature of the visit to the receptionist and after a reminder of the urgency she found the doctor who had rung and we were seen in triage within about 15 minutes. The student nurse on duty was lovely, the A & E consultant was excellent and the staff from the nurses through porters and domestics were helpful, courteous and cheerful. I wasn't fully informed some of the time what was happening and where they were taking my husband (I had to ask three times at one point before I was considered to be relevant) but on a busy night with ambulances arriving like buses, I thought the service was more than adequate, and pleased that we were listened to and treated with respect and dignity.
