From the date of referral to this hospital I waited at home with an entirely collapsed lung for 29 weeks and 5 days. It was a long drawn out process that resulted in me being in pain for the last two months of my wait and left me mentally and physically exhausted. There may have been further damage to my lung during this time but to state this would be conjecture, but to deny it would also be conjecture. I also had the surgery with ill fitting surgical stockings (totally unfit for purpose!). Left me feeling like I was using the no hope service rather than the NHS. I wasn't even offered the option of being referred to another surgeon, was never even contacted once by the surgeon who performed the op whilst I endured the wait and was kept being strung along by his secretary. I do question the 5 week average wait mentioned on this site. The quality of the surgery is not in question and I would rate this establishment highly if it was based on that alone.
"Extremely long wait from referral!"
