About: Cumberland Infirmary

I spent the whole of last weekend up and down from bolton to the hospital due to my father in law having heart attack. He sadly left us on Monday evening but i felt i had to leave a review. This hospital astounded myself and my husband. Without going too into detail ... the general lay out f teh hospital claen clear and easy to fin whee you were going. facilties for patients & guests brilliant, shop, cost coffee, retraunt and 24 hour vendig mchines, tehse hit a note especially owing to having hot meals in them ad the ability to warm them up a much needed bonus when you have traveled 120 miles up and back three days in a row and find yourself at gone midnight extremely hungry and crisps and choclates will not cut it! the canteen staff during the day and shop so helful and friendly thank you. I do havet o say i was dissaopointed by eh costa staff, advertising paninins over teh weekend and 5 minutes of queue time to then be told they dont do them at the weekend, take teh sign tdown then please a little thing like that could and did upset myself during this hard time, its food but its a comfort thinking you could get something soli to eat queue for it to be told no theyer not available. the staff (nurses and costors on the ITU department, wow, words cannot express our thanks for how you treated us all, during our bad tiem keeping us informed, ensuring we knew what was happeening, no question we asked was stupid, we werent looked down on spoken down to or ignored. Thank you is not big enough. the ability to have a sleep in eth family witing room with the sofa bed and shower to clean up same again, smal things hat help so much during such a horrible time. my local hospital is Bolton and i said his week if i was to have the choice between cumberalnd and bolton should i everhave to be in myself (touch wood i dont) then i would opt for cumberland!

Dear Louise May I firstly offer my sincere condolences on the passing of your father in law, and to thank you for contacting us at this time. We are very grateful to you for taking the time to let us know of your recent experiences of the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle, and are pleased to know that they were so satisfactory on so many fronts. I will make sure that the ITU staff are made aware, they will be gratified to know that their care has been so well received. Thank you also for your comments about the canteen and shop staff, I am pleased that you found them helpful and friendly: it is so imporatnt that such non clinical staff are recognised as being such an important part of hospital life, I will pass your comments on to them also. I will follow up the concern raised re advertising at our Costa concession , I am sorry that you were disappointed at such an anxious time . With best wishes to yourself and family.
