What I liked
I chose to have my third baby at Kettering, having had my first 2 there and been happy with how I was treated (even though Northampton is actually now closer to where I live!) My baby was breech, and I was booked in for a c-section, but went into labour a week before. Had to have an emergency c-section, which had a slight complication. The staff were amazing, very professional. My daughter then spent the first 7 days of her life in SCBU and I can't praise the staff highly enough. They were all brilliant, caring and generally very lovely. The staff on Rowan were great and looked after me very well and had time for me when I got emotional about being away from my daughter. They helped me express milk so my daugher was able to be feed breast milk - even if it was through a tube in her nose for a couple of days. The night of the c-section I was lucky enough to be looked after in the high dependancy unit (that had just been opened) and I was treated incredibly well. I can even say I enjoyed every meal I had there!
What could be improved
My only slightly negative comment is - that is very hard to get to talk to someone once you have left the hospital. A few times I tried to get some advice from a consultant dealing with our case and ended up having to go through my GP for the answers. Other than that, the after care was fine
