"Cc staff of Ward 6A My wife ..."

About: Lister Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

Cc staff of Ward 6A

My wife was admitted on the evening of:

Thursday 11th December 2008,

The staff on duty that night were beyond reproach and were utmost professional,

My wife suffers from Agoraphobia, panic attacks and a separation phobia,

To come to hospital was a great pressure and a trauma for mywife and to accept the advise of the Doctor that admitted her she was very apprehensive about her stay,

Due to the emergency of the admitted decision my wie was put on the general ward,

my wife has suffered from agoraphobia and the associated illness’s of family separation from the age of 11 years old,

I have been in contact with the PALS office within the Hospital and have arranged that if my wife ever has to come to hospital that due to the patients needs that she has certain systems in place that she can make her stay, one that is as comfortable as possible (a side room if available),

And secondly a member of family to stay with her, that this is within the Hospital systems and regulations,

On the night of her admission she was placed on a general ward due to the fact that there were no side wards available, and she knew as well as I did that I would not be right or proper for me a male to stay on a Female ward or within the ward where other patients were,

I had to go home and leave my wife which was not easy,

I returned to the hospital at around 8am the next morning and was allowed to remain with my wife all day,

Again we found every member of staff, Assistant trainee nurses and Hygiene staff very friendly and very helpful,

My wife and I would like to say a big thank you to all, and would like to bring to your attention the caring, friendly and professional team that you have there,

They deal with very one based upon the needs of the paitent

Thank you

What could be improved

the coffee machines were not working,

and for someoneto stay in the hospital for a long period of time a nice cup of tea or coffee helps

Thanks for letting us know about how well both you and your wife were supported during your recent stay at the Lister. We will ensure that your kind comments are fed back to the team. Although probably reported by now, we'll also ensure that the coffee machine gets checked out too.
