"Mixed experience of my local Walk-in Centre"

About: North Nottinghamshire Out of Hours

(as the patient),

I attended my local walk-in centre (Mansfield Primary Care 24 Walk-in centre) following a call to 111 and an out of hours appointment being made. I suspected I had a UTI and the nurse practitioner was very thorough in her assessment. Having sent a urine sample to microbiology earlier in the day a decision was made to hold off antibiotics until sensitivity results were back and I was given self-help advice.

I returned the next day as advised and was not examined at all, although I said that I had new symptoms, the results had not been received and a different nurse practitioner (I believe that was their role, though I was never actually told outright) prescribed me a course of co-amoxiclav without looking at my antibiotic history for recurrent UTIs, even though I said I could not be sure exactly which antibiotics I had had when.

Overall, I was extremely satisfied on my first visit but rather underwhelmed by the second, although I am currently hoping that the prescribed treatment will have the hoped for outcome.
