"My baby was sent to A&E via ..."

About: Lister Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

My baby was sent to A&E via GP. Separate area for children is fantastic. We only waited a matter of minutes and the staff were all incredible. They were caring and efficient and stayed with us at all times. My baby was hospitalised for 4 days, we were given a mother and baby room which was appreciated. All staff were wonderful, cleanliness was good, we felt well taken care of.

What could be improved

Nothing to improve in A&E. Children's ward was excellent, however facilities for parents were limited and toilets/shower not always functioning. Waited the best part of a day for discharge prescription.

Anything else?

Main thing is that my baby was fully recovered when we left. We were not urged to leave until we were sure we could care for him. Once again, all staff involved were absolutely superb and we felt in safe hands at a very frightening time.

Thank you for your feedback, which we will make sure reaches the teams in both the Lister's children's A&E and ward. It is good to hear how well you felt both you and your baby were cared for during your your stay.

At the moment we are working to upgrade the facilities for parents whose children are staying at the Lister. With the whole Lister hospital site set to receive over £100 million investment between now and 2015, such issues will be taken care of through this process. In the meantime, the team continues to upgrade the existing facilities where they can.
