"Clinically unsafe poor maternity care."

About: Ormskirk & District General Hospital

I have previously had 3 pregnancies under Liverpool women's hospital and cannot recommend them enough. From my first appointment with the Ormskirk team the care was unsatisfactory, hour long waits and a severe lack of continuity of care from the community midwives having seen 12 different midwives in 14 appointments. Their negativity towards home birth was so severe had I not previously delivered at home they certainly would have scared me so much I would have decided against it. My previous experience under the women's they had hired me a tens machine and a birthing pool for a nominal fee Ormskirk told me to look on EBay! 3 of my appointments I actually burst into tears and as someone who doesn't cry at Bambi this was exceptional. One of these appointments was with the consultant who was so rude to me my husband said had he not been with me he wouldn't have believed it. At 37 weeks I managed to transfer my care to the women's, as I was so concerned they agreed to cover my home birth even though I was outside their boundary. I cancelled my 38 week appointment at the gp surgery and meant to contact the midwife to say I had transferred to the women's. I forgot to contact them and to my shock and disgust even though they thought they were still caring for me they didn't contact me again until I was 11 days overdue by which time I had had 2 sweeps and an assessment for induction from the women's with twice weekly calls or visits to check on me. To leave a heavily pregnant and then overdue women for nearly 6 weeks with no contact at all is a disgrace and I feel negligent. I would advise anybody to try everything you can not to have your maternity care here it is in my opinion unsafe.
