"ITU perfection"

About: King George Hospital

I was admitted to the Intensive Therapy Unit mid December with pneumonia where I was subsequently placed in medically induced coma for 10 days. The first part of my review covers the excellent way the staff interacted with my family, keeping them fully informed of the proceedures that were being carried out and the outcome of the same. I would also like to thank all staff in the unit for the understanding and support shown to my partner and my family during this time. Needless to say I was unaware of anything occurring being in a coma. Secondly I would like to thank all unit staff and the physio team for the aftercare I received once out of the coma. I was treated with paitients, understanding, care and dignity through what could have been and extremely upsetting and embarrassing time. All I can finnish with is huge Thank You!!! to all in ITU

Thank you for sharing your experience on NHS Choices. I am very pleased to hear that whilst you were in a medically induced coma our staff took great care of you and your family. Thank you for also recognising the hard work of our Physiotherapy team who handled your aftercare. Yours sincerely Flo Panel-Coates Director of Nursing
