I have had Crohns disease since 1980 - it was diagnosed by Aintree Hospitals and my care was taken on by Stafford Hospital in 1994. Although consultants have changed over the years I can honestly say that the care I have received has always been second to non. Unfortunately in 2012 I had a severe flair up - I made a phone call to the Gastroenterology department and was seen within a week. Tests were arranged promptly & efficiently to prove it was a flair up and not something else. When things had calmed down I was left with some unpleasant side effects but all the blood tests were showing no-inflammation. The team persistently tried to resolve the situation and after a few more tests got to the bottom of things. I am now on the correct medicine for the additional condition and am feeling 100% better. Thanks to the dedication and persistence of the Gastroenterology team I am now OK. I cannot praise the staff enough at Stafford Hospital and wouldn't hesitate recommending this hospital to anyone. I feel that all the bad & negative publicity was un-necessary, every hospital has faults but I strongly believe that Stafford has been made a scapegoat. We need ALL services to be made available to the residents of Stafford and its surrounding villages - population is increasing and everyone is entitled to hospital facilities within easy reach.
