"Complaint"

Anesthetist..Theater one.on 31/1/2014 one of the first to go to Theater on that day. After receiving a letter on Wednesday 29/1/2014 for Gall Bladder removal for the 31/1/2014, i had a very quick decision to make in relation to work, time off, family to sort out and to confirm if the surgery was to go ahead, i telephoned to confirm that i would be coming in on the 31/1/2014 after much organizing. On arrival, i was shown into a bay, asked to change into theater clothing and sit and wait. A man came in, he said he was the Anesthetist then proceeded to real off a list of things that could go wrong with the surgery/anesthetic, and how i had just increased my risk of heart attack and stroke by smoking, all he was short of was pointing his finger in my face, this man was very intimidating from the start, he stood over me in what i felt was my personal space, i was sitting in a corner and he was standing no further than two foot away right in front of me. he asked if there were any questions and i asked when i could go home...he asked why and i said "you have just frightened the life out of me" he said that i needed to know the risks, i said i know as i had had operations before and was also very afraid of the Anesthetic as it makes me very sick, he said that this was the type of surgery that made you sick anyway, He then left the cubicle. I was then resorted to tears, i told my Husband i didn't want it done as i was terrified and to let the nurse know, My Husband was also very upset at the way this man spoke to me and went to get the nurse, i don't know if this is this man's way, nature or it is the way he speaks to everyone, but my job involves complaints for the private sector of health and if a complaint came my way half as bad as this my staff would be suspended pending a full investigation. I have had a few operations in the past, and i can honestly say that the Anesthetist has listened to all my fears, the most recent being in July, where i had knee surgery, i woke actually singing, no sickness, able to eat and go home the same day, i asked how this was the case and the Anesthetist said it was how the Anesthetic was mixed, nothing like this was discussed this time and i feel that this has had a real impact on putting my trust in the hands of another Anesthetist again. The Nurse and Doctor who then came in to calm me down, were excellent, but i know i was very anxious going in knowing i was going to see the Anesthetist again, i honestly thought he had something personal against me.
