"Very disappointed."

About: Northwick Park Hospital

Your Annual Report refers to these comments "often being anonymous". Does this imply you consider them to be less valid, if not why refer to it? Has it occurred to you that by being anonymous, they're possibly more truthful and frank? My experience was the worst that I've ever had in my life, causing me for the first time to consider suicide. The food was also revolting, which didn't make matters any better. I haven't heard any further on the matter of " the something which you forgot inside me, and I'd need to come back soon to have another operation to have it removed", according to the surgeon who stated he operated on me, causing me months of worry, but it hasn't caused me any discomfort or ill effect (as far as I know), and so I propose to forget about it. However, I don't consider it a satisfactory position. I also didn't appreciate the dirty looks given to me by this same surgeon, when with a similar young woman (who he never introduced to me and remained silent throughout, with the same dirty look on her face), when they visited me in the Recovery Ward. The attitude of some of the nurses/orderlies, leaves much to be desired, not least one on night duty who came into our ward, and in between mouthfuls of saliva and chewing gum told us, "Good night, AND DON'T BE MISERABLE"! I.e. don't ring the bell for help if you feel distressed during the night - a very comforting goodnight wish, I DON'T THINK! On another recent visit, I observed another of these same 'nurses', using a mobile phone in an area clearly marked, 'Please don't use your mobile phone in this area', who instead should be setting an example to the patients, not to mention wearing trousers with no blouse tucked in.
