Attended for surgery from Carlisle back in September and stayed for 6 nights. Consultant gave great explanation of nature of the surgery and prognosis. All went well and even got discharged earlier than was expected. He was also clear when met for follow-up clinic attendance. Care of all staff was very good , allowing for usual pressures they are under, in my experience over treatment and several stays with four hospitals over the last two years the actual medical services are not a problem. The problems my family and I experience are usually with admin, eg appointments, contacting by telephone (why can't you deal by e-mail direct with secretaries and other staff as you do in normal business situations), delays when attend clinics and parking. One particularly helpful experience at Sunderland was the availability of a room in an admin building on site for my wife to stay instead of traveling every day , wish all could do the same.
"Top service"
