"I don’t really see the point of TRAQS"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

I don’t really see the point of TRAQS – why isn’t the referral sent direct instead of through a third party then to be sent on?

Dear 'Keyed403'

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

TRAQS was established in June 2012 at the request of GPs in the Telford and Wrekin area to ensure that all patients receive a choice of where to attend for their first out patient appointment when being referred by their GP for further care. The TRAQS leaflet fully explains how TRAQS works and what an individual patient may expect when a referral is made by their GP.

TRAQS offer a choice of hospitals and local community clinics (when appropriate) to the patient. Prior to TRAQS, your referral would have been sent directly onto a local hospital or clinic and you would have been seent a date/time to attend your appointment. The main benefit of TRAQS is that the patient can choose from a range of appointment dates and times most convenient to them. In most cases we offer a choice of hospitals/clinics within a 40 mile radius of your postcode. Furthermore, If there are waiting lists for local services you can opt to be seen a hospital outside of area thus reducing the waiting time for your appointment.

Thank you again for sharing your comments.
