I decided before my gastroscopy that I wanted sedation, but I allowed the health care worker who saw me before the procedure to talk me out of it and convince me not to have it. That was a hideous mistake. The procedure was the worst experience of my life to date. I was traumatised for the rest of the day. Before any health care worker is allowed to talk people out of having sedation, they should themselves experience what it is like to have a tube down your throat and feel you are choking.
"They should experience what it is like to feel you are choking"
