"Birth of my son 24/03/14"

After going passed the 24 hour period of my waters breaking i had to go to princess Ann to have my son due to the risk of infection to him. My contractions came out of the blue every few minutes & strong to the point they reduced me to tears.So after giving broad lands a ring to say I was coming,we raced to the hospital! As we arrived,we went through the ambulance bay and saw 2 porters on our right who saw i was in alot of pain but didnt offer any help of a wheelchair and looked away!So still in alot of pain we went through the doors to the labour ward.We had no idea where to go to get to broad lands.The receptionist called a nurse and got me a wheelchair within moments then said that I needed to wait for a porter.Again they never turned up after waiting over 5minutes! and my fiancé said he would push me if she took us. She agreed. Eventually got up to broad lands and was met by a midwife.We got there about 7:10pm so wasn't late.i begged for gas and air as soon as we got up there but she refused as she said she needed to examine me first to make sure I was in established labour! this was certainly the case! i was 7cm dialated at this point! We were kept in the examination room,small and nothing in there.Wasnt given the opportunity to go into one of the actual birthing rooms that you seen on one born every minute. The midwife said I had at least a hour until I could start pushing and said she would be back in 15minutes to check on baby's heartbeat etc.Before she left the room I said I felt I needed to push.She didnt seem fussed and said if I needed to then to try and walked out the room. At this point 5minutes after she left the room I started pushing and obviously started making more noise.She came into the room and was saying to breath and not make as much noise.She had a quick look to see how I was getting on along with my fiancé and only to realised my sons head was crowning!She asked my fiancé to press the help button to get an extra body. From the time she came back into the room to my son being born it took 6 minutes!i know this as had a look through my notes.If she hadnt come back in then I'm sure my fiancé would have delivered him!30 minutes in totally from being examined to him being born.After he was born and placenta delivered,they then swapped shifts and it felt like she couldn't get out of there quick enough!The placenta was left on the table and not disposed off aswel.The midwife knew this was my second child aswel so would have known 2nd babies usually come alot quicker. The midwife that replaced her was so much nicer and more supportive as midwives should be.She took me to get stitched up into one of the birthing rooms.So I was pretty gutted after seeing that room as would have been alot nicer.She then helped me through to the shower room so I could freshen up.I know its the luck of the draw for which midwife you have but the first one made it a terrible experience.
