Arrived Sunday midday with my son who, it transpires, has a spiral fracture of the tibia. Got off to a good start with a quick booking in and triage. Then it all started to go wrong. At one point having been referred to x-ray I had to go find my own porter! After four sets of x-rays and a back slab and now full leg plastic cast and 36 hours we are still here waiting to be discharged. We are awaiting a doctor to review the final x-ray (who now isn't coming until tomorrow) and before we can be discharges (and I am not joking) for a lesson in how to use crutches despite my son arriving on a set. No one seems to know whats going on. If this is the result of cuts and lack of staff shame on the government. If its down to management's inability to even have a rudimentary strategy, coordination & sharing of info shame on them. The individual staff at the front line are it seems to me trying to do a good job (and succeeding against the odds) although everyone seems under the cosh and demotivated. Theres an air of resignation here that is depressing. The computers crashed earlier........get me out of here before I go crazy!!
