"cataract removal."

About: Nuffield Health, Ipswich Hospital

I am pleased to have the opportunity to thank all members of staff at the Ipswich Nuffiled hospital for the way they treated me on my short visit for a cataract removal. There was no waiting around at any stage of my visit, the receptionist was pleasant and helpful, and the nurse was always available to reassure and to keep me aware of what was happening. I had previously met another nurse who was equally helpful and who kept my spirits up at my pre-op visit. I am an extremely nervous patient, and have a particular problem in that I am totally deaf which can make visits an ordeal as I often have no idea what is happening. There was no feeling of bewilderment or isolation thanks to the staff who were so understanding. The long-dreaded operation took not much more than 10 minutes, there was no pain, no frightening moments and the surgeon had the perfect reassuringly confident attitude which one welcomes in a surgeon. I returned to the recovery area, where half a dozen other patients waited with me and the atmoshere was like a tea-party! Tea and biscuits were served by a member of the catering staff and we chatted and laughed together and generally had a good time! Totally different to any hospital visit I was expecting. I am very thankful to all staff for the part they played in restoring sight to one of my eyes and hopefully the other eye can also have sight restored and this time I will feel much more confident and relaxed about the operation,
