My Mum was admitted to AAU on 31st March at 6.30pm .from A & E She is 96 suffers with alzheimers and has very limited mobility even with a zimmer frame I was asked to bring in toiletries etc the following day and on returning the next day at 3pm I noticed her morning tablets still on her table. I asked a nurse why she had not taken them and she assured me that she had. I asked if these then were extra and were they giving her a double dose. The nurse screwed the container up in her hand and left, my conclusion she had not had her meds that day As Mum is incontinent a condition of which I informed the staff I supplied pants and pads for two or three days use only to be told to take them home as they would use theirs. On 2nd April Mum was due to be discharged, I asked if they would shower her in the morning. This had not been done and her toilet bag had not been touched. I asked if I could shower her before she came home they said yes. On undressing my Mum I found she still wore the same knickers as she had been admitted in. No pad she was sat on an incontinence sheet in a chair and the knickers were wet and in a disgusting state (had to throw them away) I reported this to a nurse and she apologised said she would fetch the Sister, she did then supply an incontinence pad and net knickers. I never saw the Sister regarding this matter and Mum was discharged 4 hours later The nurses on the ward were very nice and very busy, but I feel they could have at least seen that my Mum had a wash and her hair combed during the two and a half days she was there. The Sister who discharged my Mum couldn't do enough for us. It is a shame staff on the ward could not be as caring as her
