"Parking lets the hospital down"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

My father is currently in hospital and I was shocked by the awful parking eye system, the last time I was here my father spent 17 weeks here and I visited him every night, and used the plastic coin system which was infinitely fairer than the current system as you only paid for the time you were parked. Reading the reviews of others I think it is profiteering using the Parking Eye company and do wonder if the trust gets anything back from these sharks when patients complain.Instead of serving up platitudes it would be nice to see indicated what the trust does actually do for the patients and visitors who are ripped off by this rubbish profit driven parking system. If I was not being cynical I would think the reason why they switched from the fairer, easier to use system to this was to line the pockets of the company and whichever manager decided that this was a good system. It is immoral to use a company like this to tax patients and visitors. Go back to the old system on all your sites and cancel the contract with these sharks.

Dear Stephen, Firstly, I'm sorry to hear that your Father has been unwell. I do hope he is feeling a lot stronger soon. I’d like to thank you very much for sharing your frustrations and bringing this to our attention. I personally feel very grateful to all the patients and members of the public who have taken the time to raise their concerns about the new parking system. The Trust has taken these incidents very seriously indeed. It recently entered into urgent discussions with Parking Eye to find a way of addressing the problems and prevent any recurrence in the future. The outcome of this is that Northumbria has reached an agreement which will result in the termination of the management contract with Parking Eye on all Northumbria premises. I hope this provides you with some assurance of the Trusts determination to listen and respond to the needs of our patients and the local people we serve. With all best wishes, Annie
