Since mid December I have had exploratory procedures to do with an enlarged prostate. All the clinical business has been excellent, but I have had to phone up each time after a procedure to see what the results were and what would happen next. After having had about 16 biopsies taken, you can probably understand the stress of waiting to see if cancer was present in any of them: a letter dated 4 days after the biopsies were taken stating that they were all clear had still not been sent out 2 weeks later and I was told that the letter was waiting to be signed. I received an unsigned copy within 2 days, but the signed copy took another week to arrive. When a patient is going to be anxious for the results, I feel it would be kinder to make sure letters are dispatched as quickly as possible. I'm now waiting for some form of communication from the hospital regarding the latest PSA result which was available 2 weeks ago.
