"very pleasant birth!"

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

Hi, I don't usually write letters of thanks but I feel I should when I feel it's right. I would just like to thank the midwife.and the student with her when I gave birth. I didn't expect things to go so quick and easy especially as I hadn't written a birth plan, everything happened really quickly so couldnt have an epidural and had a water birth in the end (which I was adament not to have before labour!), I felt I had really good support and guidance while giving birth and I wouldnt change it for the world :) (the pool was really nice too and I would definitely consider it again for the next) Also thanks to the midwife on the night shift the day after for not letting me go home until she had seen my baby latch on properly, I struggled a bit at home with it afterwards but I know it would've been a lot worse if she let me go when I asked. One thing I would say though is at one of my midwife appointments I was advised not to go to hospital until the contractions were so painful and close together that I couldn't walk or talk through them...I still could do this right up to the last 20mins of labour and only came to the hospital when they were about a minute apart (was 7cm and gave birth an hour after arriving) so I personally wouldn't advise people that as I nearly had a home birth and I lost loads of blood so could've been dangerous. Strangely, I wish I could relive my birth as it was such an amazing experience thanks to everyone :)
