My wife and I attended the hospital for a pregnancy appointment. On arriving at the hospital car park it was total chaos, you could immediately see from the vehicle inside the barrier that there were more cars than spaces.
Eventually we parked with other vehicles along the side as far out of the way as possible, in order to get inside for our appointment. On returning we received a £40 fine on top of the car park charges already paid. I'm dismayed, as I truly feel that if you are given an appointment, the hospital should provide appropriate parking.
According the parking appeals people, the fact that we had a pregnancy appointment, and that there were no parking spaces, is not a genuine reason for staying in the car park. Seriously what is the world coming too, when you hear of the millions lost through missed appointments, but that you can be fined by the NHS for making sure you attend your appointment.
