"A&E"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital

A lot of the staff unhelpful, waiting time too long, from experience, partner went to the a&e on advice of doctor as suffering from a very severe headache for 3 days, waited ages for triage, then about another hour to see the doctor, who then went away and returned about an hour later, partner then was told go home take paracetomol, as you have an ear infection, stop smoking and drinking and you will be fine. 2 days later partner was admitted unconcious, on life support for 5 days. What did he have meningitus, this would not have happened and he could have been treated earlier if the doctor in the a&e had done her job properly

Dear Lozza55 Thank you for taking the time to post on NHS Choices your comments regarding you and your partners’ recent experience of our Accident & Emergency Services. I am truly sorry your experience was not that of our usual high standards and if you write to me at South Tyneside District Hospital, Harton Lane, South Shields NE34 0PL, or email me at lorraine.lambert@stft.nhs.uk I will have your concerns formally investigated and reply to you in writing. I am sorry your partner’s health deteriorated as rapidly and as seriously as it did and I trust he is on the road to recovery. Kind regards Lorraine B Lambert Chief Executive
