"Glad to no longer be in their catchment"

About: Broomfield Hospital

A few years ago, I lost my very ill mum there to a hospital infection, she ended up in ICU after coming close to successfully completing her last cancer treatments (she'd reached 9 of 12 and they were working). My father in law who passed away late last year (Nov 2013), was sent from pillar to post between the hospital, GP and various wards/specialists - constantly between appointments, being an inpatient and an outpatient with a number of A&E admissions too. He'd been progressively getting more unwell over a few years, and they seemed to take a long time with follow ups and appointments which should have been treated more urgently (given his age and condition). Also we received far too many vague diagnoses (or estimated ones) and referring to other teams, they only seemed to assess symptoms relating to their specialism and did not 'connect' with all necessary colleagues for understanding the bigger picture. More recently my mother in law has been identified as potentially having heart problems and now has to wait 2 weeks for the advised scans/tests - however given her age and stress of losing her husband (and having to care from him 24/7 at home) so recently, I find this completely unacceptable and am extremely concerned. She lives alone and my fear is she will wait too long for answers/straight answers and deteriorate to the point it's too late to help.
