"Over 12 hours in A&E."

About: Broomfield Hospital

My mother was taken in this morning around 0330 following a fall (see earlier review). When i eventually got through to to A&E (don't plan on ringing unless you have a lot of spare time on your hands) I was told they were waiting for results but nothing was broken. It is now 4:30 pm and I have not long come off the 'phone where I found she was still in A&E and that they were keeping her in as she has fractured her collar bone. They do not know what ward she will be going to, or when. So that is over 12 hours in A&E with no end in sight. Appalling

I can only apologise for the points that you have raised in this and previous post. We have had a higher volume of patients coming through Accident & Emergency this week which has unfortunately impacted on the length of time patients are within the department. May I apologise once again to your mother and any other people that may have experienced delays with us. I have forwarded the comments onto the A&E Team.
