I'm am in my 50's now and this short stay at the RD&E Exeter was one of the worst experiences of my life. I was treated with a total lack of dignity and respect. Whilst some staff were helpful as you would expect others blanked you, ignored requests for pain relief and even ignored requests from other nurses to give pain relief. Totally unacceptable. No another occasion instead of providing pain relief nurses weighed themselves on a chair scale comparing their weights. There was also considerable social chat at the expense of neglecting patients. Getting discharged was also difficult because no consultant or asthma nurse was available weekends. In other words patients are kept in beds unnecessarily at huge expense because no one can be bothered to work weekends. The cost of employing people has to be a lot less than tying up beds for days on end. Totally shocking experience in the 21st century. Probably better treatment in Victorian times . Avoid Culm ward if you can.
