"Community midwife service"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I was referred by my doctor when I was 8weeks pregnant I am now 12 weeks and still a midwife has not contacted me, my calls are never returned and often the phone rings for 20 mins before it is answered by a very unhelpful person who just tells me to call back another time. Very difficult to do when you work full time and they can't tell you when a midwife may be there. I paid for a private scan in the end and found out I am probably more like 13 weeks so if I don't hear from a midwife in the next week it will be too late for my Down syndrome test. Very frustrated!. Every time i have had to use this hospital i have had nothing but problems and poor service. I don't know how they manage to employee so many rude people.

We welcome all feedback and would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving peoples experience. We are keen to speak to you to discuss your concerns in more detail and we would also like the opportunity to apologise in person for the fact that your experience so far is poor. If you would like to do this, please make contact with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). They will be able to look into all of your concerns and speak to relevant members of trust staff on your behalf to resolve your query. PALS can be contacted by phone 01323 435886, by email PALSE@esht.nhs.uk , or in person by dropping in between 9am – 4pm (Mon-Fri) to the PALS office located in the main entrance opposite the WRVS Coffee Shop.
