"Great care at Chase Farm Surgery Centre"

Recently, I had my first gastroscopy and colonoscopy, at the Chase Farm Surgery Centre. I was absolutely terrified. The nurse who met me explained exactly what was going to happen, I was fitted with a needle, and then waited a bit. The team took me in, again explained what was going to happen, how it was going to work, etc.

The gastroscopy was very scary, but over in a matter of minutes (and proved totally clear). The colonoscopy took a lot longer than expected, because of what they found, but was completely painless. During both procedures, at all times, one the nurses was either holding my hand, or stroking my shoulder, calming me down and telling me what was going on.

After surgery, I had to spend a long time in recovery, because I had reported pains (cramps, from lying still for so long). The senior Dr explained exactly what they had found, and what the next steps would be. The three nurses in the recovery room were amazing, keeping an eye on me, continually monitoring me, but also laughing and joking with me.

I know I have to go back to repeat the experience, but, whilst I am not looking forward to it, at least I am no longer scared, and know I am in good hands.
