"Harrogate District Hospital, Fertility"

About: Harrogate District Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

The funding for Fertility treatment in Harrogate is absolutely terrible as is the 'care and advice' that is provided by one of the consultants I saw there.

It is not the consultant's fault that they do not have the funding in order to provide an adequate service. However their attitude was uncaring and unhelpful with absolutely no kindness or understanding of the situation. The whole experience made me see Harrogate Hospital in a completely different light and now that I am pregnant I wish that I did not have to go to Harrogate Hospital in case I come across the same doctor again.

If I had the choice I would rather use Leeds or Bradford. My experience of Bradford Hospital is that the staff I have come across are far more kind, helpful and knowledgeable, especially the out of hours Doctors.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your experiences. I am sorry that you felt upset by the Consultant you saw. We would very much like to look into this, but in order to do so, we will need more information, including your details and the Consultant that you saw. If you would like us to inviestigate this, please contact our Patient Experience Team on 01423 555499 or email thepatientexperienceteam@hdft.nhs.uk

The funding of fertility services is decided by the local Clinical Commissioning Group, who set the budget that we are able to use.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback.
