"The staff on Ward D made you feel ..."

About: Wrightington Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The staff on Ward D made you feel at ease as they see so many people being addmitted who are nervous. When the anetheatist came to see me she gave me the choice of what anathesia I would like. Mr Zaki the consultant was brilliant he explained everything that would happen and when there was a delay he came from theatre to tell me in person.Theatre staff were excellent and never made me feel nervous and talked me through all that was being done (I had a spinal) I was a little apprehensive but I got the relaxant that I asked for I normally suffer from anxiety but I was relaxed even when the spinal was being done.

What could be improved

Staff on ward 5 could be a little more helpful ( Yes I know they have a job to do) telling patients that they wont be a minute but still 10 min later still not been back to you. When a doctor says they don't want you discharged but the sister over rules them it should be up to the doctor not ward staff its not the patients fault there is a bed shortage.

Anything else?

Staff should make sure when patient is discharged they have all the relevent discharge notes, Sick notes and medication and should not be left in day room without any pain refief being offered. Apart from all the good points and bad this experience wont put me off having further surgery at this hospital.
