"contact rheumatology ."

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

my consultant is a very nice ,very helpful lady .pity the same cannot be said for other staff .I find a distinct lack of communication between various members of staff and as I can only contact the helpline for approx. 1hr per day and with my finger permanently on redial I still cannot get to talk to anyone . as the hospital hasn,t dragged itself into the 21st century and I cannot leave a message or email , I did write a letter about my predicament but as yet no one has replied , therefore I have 1 week of medication left and that is it . I visit the melton Mowbray clinic

Dear Diane, Thank you for your lovely comments about our consultant. We are very sorry that the service has been overshadowed by the recent lack of communication. The rheumatology helpline service has been struggling to cope with excessive demand and we are incredibly sorry that you have not been able to get through. We have recently added an administrator to the team to assist in manning the helpline during office hours which has been a great help. We are also planning to implement a 24/7 answer phone service for this number so patients can leave a message, which will then be returned shortly thereafter. I understand that a member of the rheumatology team has been in touch with you since this comment was posted, so I do hope everything has been sorted for you now and that you have all of the information you need. Kind regards Laura Stannard Communications Team Leicester’s Hospitals
