I was absolutely terrified and the staff were very kind and patient with me. My main gripe was I was asked to be there at 11am and did not have surgery till 6pm so by then was totally in bits, dehydrated and feeling faint. The actual surgery was fine and I was well looked after and pain well controlled but didn't realise how badly my mobility would be in first week. The only other gripe is the food. Poor choice .little variation and often dried out and bland did lose 7 lbs though so that was a bonus. Would recommend staff and hospital but it was an ordeal and not an easy operation. I know the long term prospects of the op will be worthwhile but I think if anybody is contemplating having it done be prepared for a difficult few days.
