"Fracture Clinic..."

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

I've been dissapointed with the treatment I've received at the fracture clinic and the unclear diagnosis. Around a year ago, I was told I fractured my scaphoid following xrays and was cast for 6 weeks. Upon having my cast removed I was told there was no fracture. When I returned to the clinic later I was told there was a fracture but it had healed. Unfortunately a month later I had another accident on the same wrist, where in A&E i was told I'd fractured my radius. There I was told the old scaphoid fracture was clearly visible on the xray. I was then referred back to fracture clinic two weeks later. I saw another doctor who removed my cast and said there was no break but that I had significant muscle wastage and tendonitis (No xrays) and would be referred to urgent physiotherapy and given a splint. Two weeks later I was called back into fracture clinic saw another new doctor who once again said it was tendonitis but that I should discard my splint. Two weeks after that my "urgent" Physiotherapy appointment came through where the lovely ladies at OT advised I should keep my splint on as this was the usual treatment for Tendonitis and moving it would aggrovate the injury - I showed them the splint I was given in Fracture clinic and they advised this was the wrong splint as it was not supporting my thumb. I was given a new splint and put on a treatment of ultrasound. A month later I received an MRI appointment and 2 weeks after that was called back into fracture clinic to see the owner of the clinic I was under and get the results of my MRI... here I was told he didn't know what he was looking at because he was the ankle specialist! I'd been assigned to this clinic for 6 months with a wrist injury! Needless to say I found this frustrating, but he assured me he would transfer me to the wrist specialist. 3 Months later after phoning the dapartment 3 times to ask for progress, I was told that only my notes had been transferred and not an appointment. I was then given an appointment where I was informed that I didn't have tendonitis but instead had a tear in a tendon and would be referred for an Arthragram. I was told to cease my treatment at physio (as they had been treating something I didn't even have for 6 months!) Again, radio silence so I phoned again. And Again. And finally got through 4 months after my appointment with the wrist specialist, only to find out that although the note had been put on that I needed an arthragram, no appointment had ever been made. Two weeks after that phone call I received an appointment. (10 days ago) Havne't yet heard anything but I wouldn't expect to based on the level of service so far. I've now been without fully functioning use of my left hand for a year and understandably am quite frustrated by this. The staff have been very apologetic whenever something has been lost - but it shouldn't be happening in the first place. I just want to know what's wrong with my wrist once and for all! :(
