"Emergency operation needed, but car park nightmare"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / General surgery Northamptonshire Teaching PCT / Emergency GP out of hours service

(as the patient),

I visited the out of hours GP at local hospital, suffering from severe abdominal pain. I thought I may be able to get some pain relief until I could see my own GP on Monday. The hospital GP referred me to emergency assessment unit. I told the ward sister that I had a car parked outside which was on a disabled bay, she assured me not to worry and she took my car regn. details i.e. colour, type, make, number. then told me that she would inform security of it. Because of this, I didn’t arrange for my car to be moved, and I was now worried about the operation I would soon have. A visitor came to see me on Tuesday and she told me I had a parking ticket on my windscreen. This could have been avoided very easily, and I didn’t know that I would be admitted as an emergency otherwise I would have come by taxi!
