"Colposcopy"

I attended for a routine follow up colposcopy. I was kept waiting for 1/2 hour in spite of having arrived early The Doctor could not speak English properly, had the wrong patients name on the screen, had to be corrected by the nurse Told me I had an STI and to go to the GUM clinic - pointing a his gums (I really did not understand what he meant). Said he could not tell me anything about the problem. Neglected to take any swabs or smear and said so after the conversation. The assistant nurse was joking about how much they could charge the NHS - I presume this procedure is contracted out. She Laughed at me when I told her my job. Doctor wrote me a prescription for antibiotics with no explanation, again nurse sniggered when ticking a box on a form - about how to charge for this. Coming out of the room I was totally upset, degraded, confused and humiliated. A colposcopy is an unpleasant procedure at the best of times. Later I worked out what GUM meant and went to the clinic to learn it shut at 11.00 am, it was 10.30 and I was told I was too late. After the whole horrible experience I received 3 letters: One said my Colposcopy was negative, but I'm sure the procedure was not completed One said my smear was normal, but I'm sure the procedure was not completed The next said I now have another appointment for the same procedure next year I find the whole process unprofessional and somehow was fudged to get the paperwork done. I will never attend another appointment in the gynaecology department again, unless I am assured the Doctor will be able to speak and understand English. I am left totally miserable at the whole experience and do not know what to do to try and help make the MHS listen
