The staff were helpful from the outset at the x-ray department reception, and this continued throughout my visit. I had attended for a thyroid fine needle biopsy, but when the consultant radiographer did an ultrasound scan she told me that in her opinion I did not need one. She took trouble to explain her findings to my husband and me clearly, repeating points if I asked or she felt it necessary. As I have a history of cancer she offered me the biopsy if I wanted a clear result. The other option I was given was to return for a repeat ultrasound scan in four months time. I felt both she and the nurse attending treated me kindly and with consideration. The only negative comment I have concerns process and has nothing to do with the above-mentioned staff who have my thanks for their care. The ultrasound scan results from the visit to a local, privately run clinic used by the NHS we're not available to the consultant at the Dental Hospital. This is a big and troubling disconnect which I have encountered before and which needs addressing immediately.
