"Great experience and treatment."

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

I came into A&E as I appeared to be suffering from a severe allergic reaction - hives, shortness of breath, body rash, swelling of the face, vomiting, fever, shivers, and more. It was only a couple of minutes before I was seen by a nurse, and quickly taken for tests, medication, and more in another private room. Then I was transferred into a ward for several hours for them to monitor my health, as they made it clear my symptoms were bizarre and my heart beat, pulse, and blood pressure was worrying. I was also given a 'Snack box' which was a box containing a delicious sandwich, fresh apple, yoghurt, cheese, and crackers. All the staff were wonderful. The only downside is that they couldn't identify the reason for the allergic reaction, but there are thousands of possibilities. Can't blame them, haha. I believe it might have been caused by antibiotics - nitrofurantoin. However, I finished the medication two days before the reaction. There's absolutely nothing else I can think of that could've caused it - only ever been allergic to another antibiotic. Overall, great experience and the other ladies in the ward were also wonderful. Got to sit back and watch movies.

Thank you for your comments posted on the Patient Opinion website regarding your care last March. It was very kind of you to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects their hard work and dedication of our staff. It was reassuring to hear that you thought that you were treated immediately and that the level of care you received from the staff was wonderful. We can assure you that we have passed on your thoughts to the A&E Manager and the staff involved.
