"my delivery in the consultant led unit"

About: Lister Hospital

I gave birth to my daughter on the 16th of March 2014. I came into the consultant led maternity unit on the 14th of March 2014 and the baby was born on the 16th night, obviously the delivery was not straight forward. It was a fantastic work from the entire consultant let maternity unit (inclusive of doctors, midwives, student midwives) which resulted in a normal delivery for me. However, there was one small issue with this new facility. The air-con stopped working on the 15th of March both in the induction and the delivery suites and never came back even after the baby was delivered. This is bit odd as it is a new facility and the reception was unable to provide any correct information on that. The team followed a more systematic and methodical approach during the entire process. Midwives were very skilful and handled challenging situations meticulously, of course with the help of doctor’s careful orchestration. Our special thanks to: 1. Midwives a. the one who facilitated the final induction phase b. the one who facilitated the initial induction phases c. the one who delivered the baby 2. Student Midwives a. the one who facilitated the final induction phase and delivering the baby, after volunteering to stay beyond her work hours. Also special thanks to the doctor for a painless epidural and all other doctors and consultants. Finally our sincere thanks to the doctors and all other staff members of the Bancroft Joint Clinic who made it possible for us to get us through to this stage. The doctors from the joint clinic were extremely responsive and made sure that I was always on the right track. :¬) We also thank our GP from King George surgery. Thank you all!

Many thanks for letting us know how well you were looked after recently on our consultant-led maternity unit - especially given that it sounds like yours was a complicated and protracted labour process. But it was good to see that you were still able to have a normal delivery and presumably are now back home with your new baby. The team will be delighted to read your kind words, which are on their way to them already! On the point of the air conditioning system, the problem has now been sorted - so sorry that this bit of your stay was not as comfortable as we would have liked.
