"NHS Medicine Wastage and Poor Cleaning at Glasgow Royal Hospital"

I was in Glasgow Royal for an operation last week, prior to my operation I received a leaflet (Making the most of your Medicines).

It stated that a new scheme will reduce the overall cost of medicines, and eliminate wastage. I had taken all my medication into hospital with me, thinking it could be used but this was not the case. Despite my medication being inside a dosette box, with tablets for each time of day, doctors changed the times of my medication and it seems it is illegal for them to use the medication inside the dosette box. Despite me being into a pre-admission clinic three weeks before, no medication was available for me that night. Ironically, it had to be dispensed from the dosette box I brought in. The same problem arose the next morning, when the nurse found there was no medication for me. She went to the nurses station and found medication lying there. I was given 13 tablets to take at once, rather than spread them over the day. When I was due to leave, I was advised to wait for medication to take with me from the pharmacy. I was stunned when they handed me 100 paracetamol and 30 dihydracodene for pain. Since I suffer from chronic pain, paracetamol are just like Smarties to me. They did not discuss with me what medication I have at home.

When the cleaner came in, she walked with a mop on the floor to the window of the ward and back out again. What happens to the sides of the beds, under the beds and around the bedside cabinets? No wonder there are many complaints about cleanliness in hospitals.
