About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

I Had wonderful help & treatment in A &E last Sat night /Sunday am. I was visiting FarnhamCastle when i fell down some steps On being taken to the Guildford hospital, the staff were great ,kept me informed of what was happening all the way through diagnostic treatment. The only observation I would make is, my scans & xrays were sent to a radiologist at home via a link,he stated the pictures were too grainy to make a decision & he would view them at the hospital next am. This meant I was kept immobilised all night in a neck brace ,It was the longest night of my life, If the hospital uses a scheme like this then the radiologist should have the right equipment at home to make decisions. However many thanks to all in the A & E dept who wereso kind to me

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. In regards to your query about our radiologist being able to view a scan from home, we are still striving with our IT department to get a solution that will enable us to properly look at a greater range of diagnostic tests from work stations at home. The advances in this allows our staff on call to review scans and x-rays over a secure system which results in a diagnosis being made quicker. The advances in diagnostic imaging has changed beyond recognition in the last few years and now involves a much larger dataset to deal with. I hope this provides you with some reassurances for the future which should mitigate against problems like this. I have also shared your feedback with our A&E team. Best wishes, Royal Surrey County Hospital
