"Results delay"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I was called and told that i needed to go to have some further tests done on a abnormal smear, when i was took in i was told that i had level 4 high grade cancerous cells on my cervix, this was very scary. I was took straight in to have them removed. I was obviously took back by the urgency for this but was very impressed in the haste that this was done in. I left the hospital within 30 mins feeling very scared and anxious as the area was a lot bigger than they originally thought. I was told it would be upto 4 weeks for the results, the last 4 weeks have been horrible, obviously still tender and bleeding, and awaiting my results i feel my life has been on hold. It is now over 4 weeks and i still havent recieved a call/letter. I called the department and was told that due to staffing issues they is a back log. So i am still non the wiser and feel my life is sitting in someones in tray. The initial service was fantastic, very quick and lovely staff, now i feel im being held dangling not knowing whether this is serious or not, not fair! Wish id gone private...

Dear Louise, Thank you for taking the time to post your review, it’s great to know the service acted so quickly for you in getting the further tests done but we are very sorry that you haven’t yet had the results. This must be a very worrying time for you. If you could please send your full details (name, DOB, patient number, address and contact number) to Gynaecology Matron, Rachelle.Bowden@uhl-tr.nhs.uk and she will look into this for you. Kind regards Communications Team Leicester’s Hospitals
