I had been referred to the emergency care department following a call to 111. From the point of entering the unit, until I left some 5 hours later, the care was superb, the staff helpful, friendly professional and reassuring, despite obviously having a high volume of patients to deal with. I was treated with consideration throughout. Even though I had to wait for some time to see a doctor, before I could be discharged, I was seen and assessed immediately. I was informed throughout that because my obs were relatively normal, it was obviously less urgent for me to see a doctor than others coming in. This was perfectly acceptable. The culture within the unit was efficient and friendly, and staff obviously got a good deal out of working there. All in all, and despite the circumstance, a very positive experience. Good old NHS!
"Excellent emergency care"
