"Noisy at night"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My husband had a hip replacement under trauma following a fall. The operation went well and I cannot fault the medical side.

Unfortunately the nursing care left a lot to be desired. He was in a room with 3 others who were unable to speak and one patient was extremely noisy especially at night. Some of the staff showed little care to my husband whilst a few were very good. He had very little sleep which I believe did not aid his recovery.

Very noisy patients should be in a single room not with others who want to rest. My husband did not want to complain as he felt he would get worse treatment.
