"Spinal decompression at QMC"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

On arrival on ward D8 at the QMC, I was immediately shown a bed. My husband and I sat there for 45mins without anyone coming over or speaking to us. Eventually, a nurse came and asked me to fill in 2 admission forms.

The operation (a spinal decompression) was performed and I was returned to the ward - but I was not told in any detail what the operation had consisted of (other than to say that my nerves were packed tightly).

I had the operation at 7am on a wednesday and was discharged at 11am on the following friday, which seemed to be a short duration and left me slightly worried - but to date, everything is proceeding normally.
