I was told on 8th January 2014 I needed a foot operation. I was given a date of19th Feb, which I declined as I would he in crutches for my birthday. I was given a date of 2nd April back in February. I have received a letter today(22nd March) to cancel the operation and a new date of 30th April. This now means I will be off crutches a few days before my holiday and my foot will be swollen and I will have difficulty in walking. A previous operation with the same consultant was cancelled in August at the George Eliot and was rescheduled. I then had an infection which delayed recovery by 4 weeks. If I have another infection this time I won't be able to go on holiday. The reason given for the cancellation was "due to unforeseen circumstances" As far as I am aware Hinckley Hospital only deal with day cases and therefore an emergency is highly unlikely to have occurred at this point in time!!
